Question for international flight baggage
I am flying United Air from Chicago/Washington/Zambia. I try to look up the baggage fee but a bit of confuse.
Does UA give first baggage free of charge (big suitcase)? |

I think it depends on destination continent/country, but from my experience it's usually been first 2 bags are free.

You need to check with the airline but most of the time the first one or two is free up to a certain weight.

I think free up to 50 pounds after that you have to pay. You need to compare the per pound overage cost for how much you are over verses paying for second bag up to 50 pounds. Keep in mind second bag helpful on return when you bring us some Ganga

Are international flights charging different than domestic these days? Every airline but Southwest charges for every bag domestically.
Admittedly, I haven't taken an international flight in a while. Freighters are much more comfortable.

Just flew domestic and it was 60 bucks a bag and they weren’t close to 50 pounds.
United also sucks they nickle and dime you for everything. No free WiFi and they load planes ass backwards. |

Here is a link that includes United's baggage fee calculator:

I just logged onto my United account and looked up the baggage cost for a flight from O'Hare to Lusaka. It's showing the first bag free and the second bag at $100.
This is the size restriction: Up to 62.0 linear inches (157cm) L + W + H and 50.0 lbs (23 kg) per bag Freighters will offer two bags free, by the way. And maybe a car.

Assuming you are just passing through Washington, not needing to fetch your bags there, you should be able to check at least one bag free, as Rain Man said. Passengers with Star Alliance Gold Status can check three bags free, I believe. Certain credit cards can let you have two bags free.
