LNBS: Should we expect to see the defense improving?
A few of us talked about it before the season started, but there was some thought that the defense would come out looking horrible and would slowly improve as the year went on. Some reasons why a few of us thought there was a good chance at this...
A few elite offenses in the first 6 games. (Pitt, NE, SD) A lot of new pieces on defense all over the place, meaning communication is going to be a wok in progress. I think it’s possible that this defense slowly improves from here on out and if Veach can add a piece or 2 on defense (PP or Honey Badger, etc) while also getting Berry and Sorensen back from injury that those will really help this team down the stretch and in the postseason. |

We'll have to see those elite offenses in the playoffs. So them showing improvement against shitty teams means nothing really.

Numbers will probably improve because we will play shittier offenses. Doesn't mean they will get better.
There is an outside chance they could get better with reps. It won't take a LOT to win games. We just need a few plays. Just a few damn plays of competent defense. |

Its very realistic to expect a defense to get better as the season goes on. As mentioned, a lot of new pieces playing together for the first time. Even if some of the opponents arent top notch, nothing like some confidence building before the playoffs. Possibly adding a new player but for sure getting some players back in the mix before playoff time. Yes, the Defense will improve!!

I have to give credit... as negative as this place was during the last 10 years or so, it is like the exact opposite now. Now it feels like everyone is super optimistic. We are on pace to completely obliterate the record for yards allowed in a season and people are out here making positive posts about the defense. There's literally nowhere to go but up, so yeah I imagine we'll see some improvement. I'd feel a lot better if we could get Houston and Berry back and healthy though. I'm not optimistic they're going to be able to make any big moves via trade, but there's still time.

They were improving before NE.
I’m hopeful they can get back on track. |

Rivers, Ben and brady put numbers up on everybody in their own stadium, especially when you have 2 of them down by 3 scores.

Tackling. Being out of position. Penalties.
Until that shit gets straightened out, this lowercase d isn't improving. |

Yes. Enough to make a difference against offenses like the Steelers and Patriots in January? Skeptical.

Not likely with the injuries they have, unless they can start generating a 4 man rush without Houston. That's pretty much a requirement if your going to run cover 1 trail on the back end.
