GoPro advice
So I got a GoPro for christmas and I'm just getting around to really messing around with it. Anyone have any advice on good editing software?
The GoPro software seems kinda wonky, I have iMovie and it's pretty good, I have tried a few others - DaVinci and Blender - but both seem to crash on my laptop - MacBook Pro Sierra OS 10.12.1. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks *edit* GoPro 4 Silver |

Ever since Microsoft forced Windows 10 down my throat, my PC and GoPro stopped talking to each other.

Adobe Premier. The latest version, Adobe Premier CC Pro already has pre-built in pluggins for handling GoPro file extensions.
I've edited GoPro footage with little issue using Premier. Another popular program is Final Cut Pro. Both programs are advanced, but a 15minute YouTube tutorial will get you going and teach you the basics and you'll just have play around with the features and learn on your own. Neither program is cheap if you want to buy them outright. I am a big advocate of Adobe's CC subscription though. Unlimited access for most, if not all their software for $50 a month.

iMovie is the best. Adobe Premier is really good too. $90 for Elements 15. $20/mo for basic Premier.

Don't buy the name brand mounts. Find some knockoffs on amazon. I bought an entire kit for the price of the GoPro "Chesty." I compared the name brand to the off brand I ordered, and the plastic is the same quality, as well as the elastic harness...
Also, go buy an external hard drive to use exclusively for your Go Pro video. The raw files can get pretty big. Related to the file size, if you can, keep the videos smaller, and take more of them. It will make editing the video easier/faster.

Yup! I bought off-brand stuff on Amazon and got twice as much as my buddy. I got some bundle that has attachments for everything you can think of and a yellow bobber in case you drop it in the water for pretty cheap.

I know Adobe use to offer "Express" versions of their software. Not sure if they still do. Chopped down versions of the real thing that will still accomplish most of what any home-editor would need.

Also - how many batteries do you keep handy for an excursion? I have noticed I can go through 2 pretty quick...

We use the GoPro around the shop frequently. If we're going to an event, we usually have 3 batteries. 1 in the Camera and two extra.

We also use it for filming cool events like SEMA.
