There's Speeding...then there's SPEEDING
Sorry if a re-post. Dude clocked going over 200 mph in a Mustang in Oklahoma:
http://www.kmbc.com/article/man-arre...rnpike/8300966 The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a state trooper arrested a driver after clocking his speed at more than 200 mph. The patrol says Trooper Ryan Smith pulled over the man Saturday on the Kilpatrick Turnpike in Oklahoma City. Authorities say the man was driving a Ford Mustang and the trooper's radar clocked the car at 176 mph and then 208 mph. Authorities say the driver attempted to elude the state trooper -- turning off his headlights and brake lights at one point -- but he was eventually pulled over at a red light. The highway patrol says the driver stopped his car and dropped his keys out of the window. The highway patrol says the driver was arrested on complaints of reckless driving and felony eluding. |

The most important part of a story like this is ALWAYS missing.
What year Mustang and what was under the hood? Also, what kind of tires? Because most tires aren't rated that high. The car had to have been highly modded, including a computer reflash.... 208MPH in a Mustang...sounds fishy....

This is the story in the KC Star:
A 19-year-old driving a 2011 Mustang clocked in at 208 miles per hour as he tried to elude the Oklahoma Highway Patrol on Saturday. “I’ve never seen a speed like that,” Capt. Paul Timmons told KOKH in Oklahoma City. Timmons described the incident with grand understatement: “Two hundred miles an hour ... that is extremely excessive.” He said the teenager, Hector Fraire, was speeding on the Kilpatrick Turnpike when Trooper Ryan Smith clocked him twice, at speeds of 84 and 85 mph, before he tried to stop the car. Fraire kept driving, faster — and even turned off his headlights and brake lights to try to lose the trooper, Timmons said. Smith reportedly clocked him again at 176 mph, then 208 mph before Fraire exited the turnpike. “Trooper Smith caught up to the Mustang at a red light at Northwest Expressway and HWY 3 and initiated a traffic stop,” a statement from the Highway Patrol said. “The driver of the Mustang turned south, pulled over and dropped his keys out of the driver’s window.” Fraire was arrested for reckless driving and felony eluding. Authorities said he is in a local racing group. News of the teen speed demon quickly made the rounds in car circles. Jalopnik website for car buffs said Fraire must have been driving “some kind of savage, magic 2011 Mustang. “There’s no question that anyone doing 208 in a Mustang on public roads is an idiot who’s incredibly lucky they don’t kill themselves or anyone else. But there is a question about what kind of Mustang does 208 MPH?” the website wrote. “Who are these 19-year-olds with 200+ MPH capable Mustangs? Where do they get the money? “Anyway, even if you have a car that can go over 200 MPH, it’s still carrying around an idiot if you try that (bleep) on a public road.” Read more here: http://www.kansascity.com/news/natio...#storylink=cpy |

Either the cop is full of shit, his instrumentation is broken, or that's a highly, highly modified Mustang.
