It is a lot obviously, but it really isn't coming out of their pocket. They have sponsors and investors who own a piece of them. Very little if any comes out of their own pocket.

It's been under wraps, apparently.

I'd expect him, Esfandiari, Laak, maybe Negreanu and Matusow.

2 of which who probably can't even beat 200NL (1/2 blinds) on Stars. TV Poker pros. Nonetheless, they must have found a massive fish to play in it with them otherwise I don't know why they would want to be playing this high. Maybe they convinced Andrew Beal to play in it (Texas Billionaire who's lost millions and millions throughout the years)

There was an excellent book about Beal a few years ago. He'd come to Vegas, word would get out, and pros would literally drop what they were doing and fly in to play him. He set up some head's-up games with bizarre conditions--like he would use a metronome and only act on every 5th beat or something in order to not develop any timing tells to the pros.

Since you dropped his name, you probably know all that though...just thought I'd mention it to others though...

They used to play 500/1000 on Full Tilt all the time.

I've sat 25/50 a couple of times.

That shit is nerve racking.

man this is a degenerate story for the ages, but I'll tell it because it's funny:

When I was 19, my friend and I sublet a 4 BR apartment on campus and turned it into a total party apartment ... one of our buddies got kicked out of his house so we let him live on our couch. He had no job and no money. After about a month I was really tired of paying for everything he did like he was my ****ing girlfriend so we decided we were going to "go for it."

Party Poker let you put on a bunch of money and wouldn't withdraw from your bank account until the next business day. So, the kid had about $12 in his account but Party Poker let you deposit up to $2000 no questions asked.

So naturally, we put on $2000 and decided to sit 100/200 NL (where $2000 is the min buy in ... it's like sitting down with $40 at the 1/3 NL $300 Max game).

We were such terrible fish I totally, 100% forget how the hand played out but we called this guy down with 2nd pair on a board that had every straight imaginable with a flush and just caught him in a total bluff. Literally the worst play I've ever seen us make and we raked in like a $2300 pot to get up to $4300 2 hands in.

We immediately left the table, called Party Poker, and they took our $2000 deposit out of the winnings, and then we cashed out $2300 and partied like men that summer.

I miss the Party Poker days =(
