That big fat man could play. I'm not a musician, but he just seemed like he had a unique style and sound from the other blues guys with that hand dancing and vibrating all over the guitar neck. Saw him live at one of the Memorial Day (or was in Labor Day?) festivals in KC awhile back. Cool experience.

he could play but there were other technically greater "players" than BB King in his genre.. but that isn't what made him top of the top.. it was the raw power of emotion he put into his signature style.. it was all so personal and vulnerable and real. He just loved his guitar, you could totally tell that was his paradise was when he played. High respects for that man.. he was a nice man as well to his fans.

Damn. RIP to the King. Hope they bury Lucille with him. Guy still had it even in his 80's. A true music legend.

Farewell good sir.
BB was one of the first I was aware of who could really, totally confess. Bless him and his example of how music should be. Pure. |

Huge loss to the music world. Saw him play once in a little hall in Germany. He put on an incredible show.

BB King. A terrific guitarist who didn't know how to play a single chord. Don't need to play chords when you play completely from the soul. I still remember days in STL when he would come in unannounced to BBs and play a ridiculous set. Sucks to lose a legend.

in 1993 , I was in the Navy at AV/A school in Millington, TN; I wasn't yet 21, so I was cruising around downtown on a Saturday night, when a limo pulled up next to us at a red light; the drunks that I was driving around began gesturing at the limo, (not in a bad way), and the rear window of the limo rolls down, and it's BB King. He smiled & waved to us as the limo sped away. Surprisingly, I wasn't the only one in the car who recognized him.

Nobody had a better voice for singing the blues, and he was definitely one of the greatest guitarists of all time. RIP
