As long as Goodell continues to kiss up to Kraft, the Rooneys, and the Maras, he's going nowhere.

And unsurprisingly, the NFL investigation is going to be supervised by none other than John Mara and Art Rooney! Shocker! Look for some lower-tier manager to take the fall while Roger gets off.

I have no doubt that the refs are often biased towards or against certain players, teams, owners, or storylines, but there's also no guarantee that their manipulation will always work as intended. I also feel that Goodell often plays favorites based on his relationship with the owner when teams are disciplined. For instance, I doubt he would have been so eager to cover up Spygate if it was Al Davis' or Jerry Jones' team doing it. Likewise, I doubt he would have been so heavy-handed on Bountygate if it was the Patriots, Giants, or Steelers doing it. You, on the other hand, have ludicrous theories of players blatantly tanking games. You also write off any outliers in league history as being fake and acted out. In other words, you're delusional.

I don't see why the owners would turn on him when he's made them piles of money.

This. I don't get the argument that 'he makes them a lot of money'. It's literally the most recognizable brand in the world other than Coca-Cola and McDonalds. Anyone can make money in that role.

Goodell isn't going anywhere. Rooney and Mara are the Team/Owners running the investigation into their employee, they are both pro Goodell.
The independent investigation is a joke. Mueller is currently a partner at WilmerHale, the law firm that was used to negotiate the DirecTV NFL Sunday package in 2002. A second connection between the sports league and the firm comes with Jay Bauman, the NFL's second-highest ranking in-house lawyer. Bauman worked at WilmerHale until he left to join the NFL in 1999. The President of the Baltimore Raven, Richard Cass, worked for the Wilmer law firm for 30 years prior to joining the Ravens. I think that a poor intern or low level employee will be the fall guy for a price and a job lead at one of their clients. |

There's nothing special about Goodell. He's not a messiah or a superstar. The owners can always find another sock puppet. And I think they're going to want one who doesn't have a huge scarlet letter on his chest.
