Rockies give out 15,000 misspelled jerseys
This is hilarious.
http://blogs.denverpost.com/rockies/...veaways/18312/ Troy Tulowitzki’s name misspelled on 15,000 Rockies jersey giveaways By*Nick Groke The Denver Post The Rockies Saturday gave away 15,000 Troy Tulowitzki jerseys to fans at Coors Field before their game against the Pirates. Just one issue: The jerseys spelled Tulo’s name wrong. The second T was missing — and ‘Tulowizki’ it was instead. Some fans proclaimed the jersey an instant collector’s item, something like Billy Ripken’s notorious baseball card from 1989 or something like the*left-handed hitting Hank Aaron card from 1957. Other wiseacres on Twitter suggested the jersey manufacturer should have left out the W (because the Rockies have fewer wins this season than losses, if that’s not clear). The Rockies released a statement about the shirt misspelling: The Colorado Rockies offer our sincere apologies to the fans for the misspelling of the Troy Tulowitzki King Soopers jersey that was distributed tonight. The Rockies would also like to apologize to longtime corporate partner King Soopers, who was not involved in the production of the jerseys. Acknowledging that many fans came to the game for the jersey, rather than disappoint them, we decided to go ahead and hand them out. We have made plans to reproduce the jersey and fans wishing to exchange will be able to do so at a future date (TBD) in September at Coors Field or the Rockies Dugout Stores. In addition, fans exchanging the jersey will receive a complimentary ticket to a future game in 2014 or 2015. |

How could that happen? It's spelled just like it sounds! This is not the biggest jersey foul up I've seen. The Royals gave out #2 John Buck T Shirts one night. Buck was batting .098 at the time.

And we can never forget the 40th anniversary of the Royals #40 jersey giveaway...during a season where Kyle Farnsworth wore #40 & sported a 4.5+ ERA that season.

That's hilarious... but it's also kind of cool they're offering a free ticket to another game in addition. That's a pretty good deal.

The Royals wouldn't give another ticket out. they would say "Why would we do that? The 15,000 fans now have a rare jersey instead!!!!" / #roomtemperaturedollardognight

I'd take that jersey, sell it to a collector, and invest the entire haul in gold coins.

The rarity doesn't matter to me, but I'd keep the jersey just for the story. I hope those jerseys are floating around that stadium for a decade.

4th of July 5 or 6 years back the Royals had a 4th of July firework show go horribly wrong, and they gave away a free ticket to everyone who came out that day (which was 30K for the fireworks)

I was at that game. If I remember right, it had rained earlier that day and when they went to start the display nothing happened and everyone was just sitting there waiting like wtf.

Just now realized they're really just jersey t-shirts. I bet they're cheap crap and won't last a decade.

Well, I meant that I think it'd be funny if people were still wearing them to games a decade from now to remind ownership of how awful things were these years. That would likely require washing.

It's really unfortunate they were never able to build on the 2007 WS year. Coors is a really great place to watch games and even better when fully packed in games that matter.
