So if the Ravens don't tender Flacco with the exclusive rights tag
Any team could claim him provided he signs their offer and the acquiring team gives two first-round picks to Baltimore. Who determines what those picks are? Could a team that picks at the top of round two trade up with a fourth or fifth round pick this year to provide the second first-rounder? Or could a team use their second (enhanced to a late first) from this year and next year's first?
Just curious how that works. Would you trade two firsts for Flacco? |

Flacco will have a new deal by March 4 with the Ravens.

I'm pretty sure that the starting point is your two original first round picks (i.e., the picks you earn by virtue of where you finish the year before).
I'm not as impressed by Flacco as some are, so I probably wouldn't trade two firsts for him.

Do you guys honestly believe the Ravens would release another QB the season after they won the superbowl?

It's not the draft picks that scares me away from a Super Bowl MVP, it would be his asking price. He'd want a monster contract, and deservedly so.

I'd rather just use our 1st for Geno Smith.

I'm not afraid to hand a QB $100 million.
I know the True Fans who talk about "cap hell" are deathly afraid of it, though. One would think if they're so scared of huge contracts, they should do the smart thing and draft a QB at #1. Interesting how they don't talk about that. |
