Maron - new IFC series - free episode preview
First episode on IFC tomorrow night, but 2nd episode streaming commercial-free now.
Familiar sitcom plotting but I think the Maron touch really lends something. Hard to tell if familiarity with Maron IRL helps or if coming in clean would be even better. Don't want to sway people unduly prior to viewing, so I'll just post the link. http://www.ifc.com/shows/maron |

How Maron is it? His comedy is like spicy mustard, a little goes a long way.

It's the new mellowed Maron. It's not ranty, of that's what you're worried about. The episode climax is kvetchy, but earned. I don't think one episode is going to burn you out by any means.

Did you catch Maron on CBB today? I guess it was taped months ago, but it sounds like he's not sure if it's any good or not.
I guess he's pretty self-deprecating though. |

I watched 102 and it was decent. It's not laugh out loud funny, it's not laughing on the inside funny but, it's easy to follow. It reminded me of Legit minus pot, hookers, handicaps, pinball and all the other stuff that makes Legit cool.

Just finished the episode. I thought that there were points where Maron seemed like a real actor, but mostly it was a little rough. I'll still watch the whole season...hopefully he gets better by the end.

I liked #101 more than #102. Hopeless Dave Foley is pretty funny. I think the first scene was paying homage to Garfield. Maron took his orange cat, Bammer, to the vet. He hit on the Dr. and she acted disgusted. When the camera pulled back a bit, the vets name tag read Liz.

The first episode was pretty good, or at least it exceeded my dreadful expectations.

Last night's Maron was epic. As good TV as there is out there. Criminally underrated. Dude takes his own life and dissects it with jaw-droppingly honesty and brutality.
Better than Louie, on par with True Detective and Fargo, just in a more grounded plane. Turning the therapists into the true dysfunctionals, while staying focused on their own problems. Heartbreaking.
