Here's the deconstructed recipe that's been around for years and is exactly like the real thing:


Big Mac Sauce

1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons French dressing
4 teaspoons sweet pickle relish
1 tablespoon finely minced white onion
1 teaspoon white vinegar
1 teaspoon sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt


1. Combine all of the ingredients in a small bowl. Stir well.

2. Place sauce in a covered container and refrigerate for several hours, or overnight, so that the flavors blend. Stir the sauce a couple of times as it chills.

Makes about 3/4 cup.

I always mix thousand island dressing and relish when I'm making a burger at home. It's not exactly identical, but it's pretty damn close. It's also as cheap as you can get.

The whole "top-secret" bullshit that fast food restaurants play out for their greasy recipes is getting a little old. Calm down Colonel Sanders, nobody wants your 12 herbs and spices recipe (salt, salt, salt, salt, salt, salt, salt, salt, salt, salt, salt, and pepper).

You forgot paprika. It's understandable since you can't taste it.

man, that's a lot of sugar considering there is already sugar in the french dressing and pickle relish. Might be sugar in the mayo too, i dunno.

I noticed on the condiment aisle the other day that there was a Kraft version amongst the various mayos. Miracle Whip Secret Burger Sauce I think it was.

Due to some serious kitchen time in the past month or so, my burger game is TIGHT.

Worked up a perfectly seared burger with;

marinade
cajun seasoning
pepper bacon
guacamole
red onion
bleu stilton
toasted brioche

Got to the point I prefer what I make at home to anything I've had at a restaurant in a long time.

I'm way too lazy for that. Burger night for me would end up being jennie-o frozen turkey patties on the foreman grill, some sliced Roma tomatoes (cuz cheap), a few pickles and some mustard on a bun.

The closest i come to McDonald's sauce is spreading some mayo on the hamburger bun and the squirting some ketcup on there. Then rubbing the 2 pieces of bread together to mix them up.

It's really not that labor intensive.

Guac is Wholly Gaucamole, not prepared from scratch.

The marinade, I just use vacuum seal bag. Pull patty out of freezer, plunk it and marinade into bag, seal it, and let it sit until the burger has thawed.

Bacon cooks in the microwave.

Brioche in the toaster.

Couple slices off the red onion [keep one wrapped in saran in fridge at all times]

Dust cajun spice from shaker

Crumble cheese off block.

Aside from thawing the burger, start to finish, I have my burger prepared faster than I can cook a helping of fries. Probably 10 minutes from walking into kitchen to sitting down to eat.
