GFs MacBook ****s up my local network
Example: When I am playing online using my PS4 and she is not home, everything runs perfectly. When I am playing PS4 and (the moment) she opens her Mac, the PS4 completely loses connection.
I've set a static IP on her Mac, and currently I am streaming Netflix on my TV (using the TVs wifi) without trouble. It seems to take a bit longer to load though. However, when she uses the internet on her machine she has to click on the wifi symbol at the top to get the page to load quicker. If she doesn't do that, and types in the URL of something, it takes around 5 seconds before it will begin to load the page. It still does this even with the static IP set. What the **** is going on? I want to smash things. |

Neither of these are applicable.

That could be a number of things. I'd suspect the router first. What router do you have? What mode is your router set to? B/G/N? The router might be trying to switch modes when the higher speed Macbook Pro connects. Does it happen when using network cable?
I'm not sure why you'd use a static IP, but that's not going to change anything. I'm not sure what you mean when you say she clicks the wifi symbol at the top to make things load faster. Symbol at the top of what? The OS? The browser?

She is probably unwittingly hosting porn. Gotta watch what sites she downloads her "recipes" from

Nope. It seems to have been an issue with the auto setting for bands on the router. Set it to N only, and things seem to be going much better right now.
Thanks for the "help", guys. There was a lot of other shit leading up to this. I just moved to Lawrence, had internet for 2 weeks before it became a piece of shit. Dealt with some incompetent customer service through 6 phone calls over 10 days, plus a 5 minute service inspection at my house. From the start to end I said it was the modem (this has happened to me in the past). They assured me it was not their modem because it did not show up broken when they ran diagnostics. Finally the last customer service rep literally said they were idiots, and to walk into the local office and tell them to give you a new modem. Did that, and it is perfect now.

Macbook has a program or process on it screwing up sending/receiving tons of requests and is causing router protection to kick in.
My theory~ |

I was wrong earlier. The problem still persists. Everything I find online seems to have no answer. And for the other guys, I asked, she said no pictures. Too bad too, she is good looking.

I sat there and poured through logs and never saw anything. I never did packet captures but it was super frustrating. |
