How old is your car?
Cars have become extremely reliable over the past 20 years. In 1996 the avg car in the road was 3 years old. In 2006 it was 10 and now it's 12.

I have a 2014 Escape that I bought last summer. Prior to that, I had a 2006 Impala that I owned for nine years.
As I commute to work by train, I don't put that many miles on my cars. Even after nine years, the Impala only had 88,000 miles on it when I traded it. |

You must have to replace the shocks at least once a year.

Bought the Acura in 2008 and it is going very strong at about 85,000 miles.
I will not buy another until this baby dies. Interesting you brought this up, I was reading an article a couple weeks ago and it said something to the effect that over a 100 million Americans have current car loans. |

I'm not really sure which car is 'mine', these days.
We cut down to one car several years ago, and that car is a 2011 BMW that we bought in 2013 or thereabouts. It's more my wife's car by design, because I don't drive much. I was involved in picking it out, but it was really her final call. However, we recently became a two-car family by accident. My wife's father is elderly, and due to a series of health events he had to move into assisted living and give up his vehicle. Since our BMW is a two-seater, we need his car in case we take him somewhere, so he gave it to us. It's a 2016 Acura RDX, a very nice car. So I don't know if the RDX is "my" car or the BMW is "my" car. When we were a two-car family, we each had a car that was primarily ours, but now we just switch them out based on our mission that day.

I like it but ****ing power steering goes out and the dealer was suppose to fix that shit but the ****er never got the right part. It's a recall thing I think so he should have fixed it. |

I have a miniature car lot here because I'm married to a wonderful woman (in case she happens to see this ) that thinks I was put on this earth to make sure everybody on the planet has a car just in case theirs breaks down.
But I guess I am a good example of your graph. The newest one is 2006, oldest one is 1992. And I wouldn't be scared to hop in any of them and drive a long distance (except the F250, somebody else would have to pay for the gas before I drove it across town ). They are living longer these days it seems. I never gave it much thought |
