Modern Monster Movies
Pacific Rim thread got me thinking, I want to go on a Monster Movie Binge this weekend.
Can you recommend me some recent Monster Movies that are at least decent? Preferably available on Netflix Streaming... Stuff like The Mist, Cloverfield, Super 8, Battle: Los Angeles, anything else in the same vein...or even creepier shit if you liked it. Let's get a list going of the best recent stuff (2000 - Present). |

Never saw it, but I'm told The Host (2006) is one of the best. It's a Korean film. But if you don't mind subtitles, you might check that one out. Everyone seems to adore it.

I'm a sucker for monster movies. Goes back to my love of Godzilla as a kid.

I'll throw in a good word for The Host, too, but you should go into it expecting that it's tongue in cheek.

Some good cheesy ones: Slither, The Centipede.
Not sure they qualify as "monster" movies. The Thing was enjoyable too. |

If you are into the whole giant monster movie thing check out the Godzilla and Gamera movies Toho released during the 90's. The Gamera trilogy (Gamera vs. Iris especially) was great.
All of them are available via Netflix DVD not sure if they are available via streams. |
