How long are you out with that injury? A sports hernia sounds less bad than it looked on TV.

I don't know about a sports hernia but a regular one in your pelvic region will damn sure sideline you for several weeks.

Rotoworld says 2-8.

Quote:
Avery is going to Philadelphia, presumably to be operated on by sports hernia specialist Dr. William Meyers. Recovery timetables for this procedure can range anywhere from 2-8 weeks. Avery, the Chiefs' second-most targeted player, had 14 catches for 156 yards and no touchdowns through the first four games. Look for A.J. Jenkins and Frankie Hammond to fill in on the outside.

There's a considerable recovery period, but hernia repairs with Marlex mesh overwhelmingly result in a stronger abdominal wall than we are even born with.

Case in point, worker's compensation very very rarely award any permanent disability of any sort for hernia repair. They assure that all medical and time off has properly been paid and congratulate the worker on his new robust status. Their [along with the doctor/medical expert] advice and explanation proves quite helpful in settling and closing such cases.

If he only has an inguinal hernia, his recovery time would be shorter, but sports hernia can mean a lot of different things.

Good point, I don't know how precise the reporters are being with their language. But if they're talking about a run-of-the-mill abdominal wall bulge or tear, then a Marlex mesh repair won't impair him in the long run.

Side note non sequitur, I don't know how many watch The Knick, but it's endlessly fascinating watching these guys [even if fictionalized/conflated] come up with the technological and procedural advances that the industrial revolution and urbanization afforded them at the turn of the century. A recent episode focused on the advancement of using silver wire to sew hernias instead of inferior [and deteriorating] threads and tendon.

Are you talking MO, or IL? In MO I never closed over 2.5%, closed a good 30-35 for no PPD, and never encountered anyone who secured representation for a purely hernia claim. That was St.L. city and down the eastern border/bootheel.

7.5% in MO sounds like waiting out for the city's most liberal ALJ. Sounds par for the course in IL.

MO. Right or wrong, I think the ALJs are biased to rate surgical injuries higher than nonsurgical, regardless of outcome.
