LNBS: what Clark Hunt needs to do about the attendance decrease

Terez Paylor wrote a good article today about the Chiefs as seen here: https:
http://amp.kansascity.com/sports/nfl...167419087.html

In the article, it highlights slight decreases in attendance.

Quote:
After all, the club ranked ninth in the league in attendance last year with an average of 73,328 fans per game, despite being one of the NFL’s smallest markets.

Still, the numbers do show a downward trend, miniscule as it might be. Despite the Chiefs’ success the last four years under Andy Reid, the club’s attendance has dropped a tad each season since 2013, when an average of 75,359 fans trekked to Arrowhead Stadium.

Read more here: http://www.kansascity.com/sports/nfl...#storylink=cpy
It appears that the Chiefs (and the NFL) are fighting technology.

Here's what we know Clark has done:

1. Hired an elite caliber coach that has built a playoff caliber team every season.

2. Drafted an exciting QB to lead the franchise for years to come.

3. Renovated the stadium with new features including the fans "locker room club"as seen in the link below.

http://www.kansascity.com/sports/nfl...166836692.html

If you're Clark Hunt, what are you doing to add to this and get attendance into the top 5 again?

Not play Alex Smith or any other retread quarterback. I know it's only a matter of time for this to take place.

But that was asked of him in the interview I posted, and he's obviously thought about it because he went right to tailgating a longer period and the experience. He talked about best practices from amusement parks like Disney and he's watching what the new stadiums have and how successful they are.

IMO If he really want a full stadium he needs to make it cheaper. Parking, tickets, concessions. If the overall price goes down, it opens the door to a much larger customer market, which IMO is pretty important in smaller markets.

But that's not what is going to happen. He's going to take out seats and put in suites.

Nah. That isn't going to increase their average of 73,000 attendees.

The NFL can't have its cake and eat it, too.

$9 billion a year in TV contracts while 4K TV's are $399 will never equal increased attendance, especially in a cold weather market.

Arrowhead is actually too big for today's NFL. If they reconfirgured the stadium for 65,000 seats, they'd have a higher demand.

It's only going to get worse, especially in smaller markets.

Need to take out about 10,000 seats to be honest for our market size and how NFL stadiums are going.

The Chiefs have signaled to everybody that they are trying to do this when they traded up for Mahomes.

Here is what I would do. Take out the upper level end zone suites. Make some sort of club or party pad in those locations.

That looks similar to the Titans stadium, and the problem with that is the open end zone are an escape zone for the noise. Though its been a long time since Titans fans made noise lol.
