Chiefs Chiefs have big interest in Red Bryant

Was told yesterday that the Chiefs will have big interest in Red Bryant. He would replace Jackson in base package and might even cause Dontari to move out of the nose and into Jackson's spot.

I would actually be more excited about the rotational possibilities.

NT is a more important position than 5-tech.
So if a NT is on the field, that NT should be Poe if he's not catching a breather.

I have never understood people wanting to move Poe out of the NT spot.
He is most valuable collapsing the pocket straight into the QBs lap.

He needs to be fresh to do that though.

If he can push the pocket from the NT position....what do you think he could do from the DE spot with another quality NT next to him?

There's quite a bit of difference between a 4-3 DE and 3-4 NT...

I feel like collapsing the pocket from the NT position is much more disruptive, as it keeps the QB from climbing it.

I do think Bryant would be leaps and bounds better at DE than Tjax...

I hear you, its a bit risky to move a guy around like that, but even if he just moved outside on obvious passing downs it would be a huge positive I'm thinking.

Give him 2/3 of his snaps at nose, but get him started down the path to understanding end responsibilities in 2013... a guy as talented as he is shouldn't end up too confused now that he's in year three.

I'm all for mixing things up as well, and could see Poe playing some 5 tech in certain situations, buy feel his value at the nose cannot be over stated and should be his house.
IS his house, and the QB will need to come into his house to escape the doobie brothers.
But we have got to keep these guys fresh and make fn adjustments.

First off "2013", yeah... Vladimir Vodka must've been speaking for me there.

And yes, its definitely hard to see Poe doing too much time at end... just when a guy is getting good somewhere ya move him? that doesn't usually sound like a successful plan. But, this guy IS a special kinda talent I'm convinced... maybe some occasional switcheroo wouldn't be too much for him to handle.

Profootballtalk reports the Browns may release DL Ahtyba Rubin.
Rubin, 28 in July, is entering the final year of a four-year, $27.6 million contract and carries an $8.175 million cap number. The Browns are already flush with cap space but are cleaning house. They can save $6.8 million against the cap by releasing Rubin, who started 14 games at left end last season and registered 52 tackles and two sacks. He had one of his better seasons under Rob Ryan in 2009. Ryan's now with the Saints, and they could use defensive line help.
