OL Draft Prospects
Some of the guys I'm starting to like are:
Laken Tomlinson dude has been killing it at the Senior bowl. Would fix a lot of problems for the Chiefs. Donovan Smith has been very solid on both side tackle spots. La'el Collins is a beast, but he's gonna go mid 1st round. I don't think the Chiefs will pull the trigger on OL that early. Cameron Erving is interesting from the stand point of how versatile he might be. Ali Marpet might be a good pick at center. Yes, I'm talking mostly Senior bowl guys right now. |

Eric Fisher was killing it at the Senior Bowl, too.

La'el Collins or Brandon Scherff would be great 1st rd options for KC, if one falls.
Overall, I think the Chiefs can draft a quality OL even if they wait till the second day. Tomlinson, Cann, Tre Jackson, Matias, Miller the OGs... Fisher, Robinson, Poutasi, Donovan Smith, Daryl Williams at RT... All the better, if they can snag a decent FA vet. I really don't want to see Jeff Allen back at LG. I'd rather he battle for RT or just be kept on as cheap and versatile depth. If they can provide serious upgrade and competition at LG and RT... if Eric Fisher and Fulton can improve some weaknesses... if KC can retain Hudson... ah but to dream and hope.

As has been stated before, Tomlinson has been a RG his entire career at Duke (four year starter at RG). I'm not so sure you burn a second or third rounder on a guy who hasn't been moved over to one of the other positions on the line if he's "that good." While he showed well in the game that featured straight up blocking, I worry about his ability to pull and trap, especially at the next level. A guy like John Miller, who has also been a guard his entire career - LG - shows a bit more mobility than Tomlinson IMO. Then you have Matias and Kouandjio, players who have the perceived high ceiling, but haven't shown the consistency throughout their career that a guy like Miller has. There has been spots during games where both have been completely worked and that worries me from a OG perspective, especially one where the Chiefs need a guy who will immediately upgrade the position. To me, John Miller is the guy who you can plug in immediately and get high level results from without having to worry about a learning/teaching/coaching curve as you would with someone like Matias. I put Miller into the Gabe Jackson/Larry Warford category: a massive, very powerful college LG who is fundamentally sound whose strength will immediately translate to the next level. They aren't the flashiest guys for the position, but they get it done sooner and at a higher level. Then you have the three mountains in Miami's Ereck Flowers, Utah's Jeremiah Poutasi and Penn State's Donovan Smith, all three of which could play RT or either guard spot, with Flowers having the best feet of the three and potential NFL LT skills. (I'm not too familiar with Smith though. Any Penn State fans want to chime in on him?) Poutasi is an absolute earth mover and has played the last two seasons at LT (started as a true freshman at RT) and played it well against some seriously good pass rushers in the PAC 12. All three are potential RT's or LG's. |

http://billsmafia.com/2015/01/24/201...ken-tomlinson/ If Collins fall to the Chiefs, that'd be a win there too. Fills in as a guard at worst and pushes Fisher for the LT position at best. Last edited by Jakemall; 01-26-2015 at 02:49 PM.. |

Last year we almost drafted Chris Watt. Very big guy with very good results at ND. I think that the Chiefs are going to select a guy like that earlier this year.

I still like Ogbuehi, depending on how far his injury causes him to fall he could become a complete steal.

I agree. Collins would be the best option for the Chiefs in the first round in the 2015 draft IMO.
They have to upgrade two OL positions (LG/RT), two WR positions, MLB and find a guy to replace Berry. If they do that, I think that this team has a legit chance. If they can get Derek Sherrod's head back into football, they'll solve the problem at RT. Guy had the size and skill set. I guess he keeps hearing that leg bone crack. If they can get him to play again at the same level he did coming out of college, it's a massive win for the team. And, as Sandy said, I'd much rather have Jeff Allen as your all-purpose backup versus a starter - unless he has an epiphany. I know he put a lot of work in in the pre-2014 off-season so who knows. I'd just rather see him as the guy you can have come in and plug a hole at either tackle or guard spot in a pinch versus an every down starter. They do have to resign Hudson though. More important than even Houston IMO. |

A guy from your own backyard I like a lot that doesn't get much attention is Mitch Morse. I think he showed well last year at RT and looked even better this year at LT. Any Missou fans that got to watch him more than me have any input? Thanks.

I was going to start a thread about this thought......but what happens if this offseason is exactly like the last offseason except for the offensive line instead of wide receivers.
Everyone knew last year that we needed to get a WR. They went after Sanders....lost out and then sat on their hands. Then we got the report that it was because of Kelce being healthy. So what happens if they go after a FA....lose out and then don't draft one because Allen will be healthy and they'll have Kush, Fulton, Stephenson and LDT to evaluate? |
