DON'T buy WS tickets at current prices
I have a few friends that deal in the secondary market professionally here in KC. (Not scalpers, technically. These guys have offices and pay taxes.) I've been told by, literally, all of them not to buy until at least Monday. All three that I've called about tickets have told me they have them, but that no one is buying at current prices...even on StubHub. They say that by game day they expect prices to drop dramatically. One even saying he expects SRO to fall to around $250 and then for prices to increase incrementally from there. He basically said people are throwing shit against the wall to see what sticks at this point, and that nothing is sticking.
Again, I went to HS with 2 of these guys, so them not trying to stiff me isn't a surprise...even though it's basically what they do for a secondary income. If you have the scratch to buy now, go ahead I guess. But if you're on a budget, I wouldn't rule out going to a game just yet. |

KC doesn't get many marquis big events so I imagine quite a few people will buy at the current prices. DFW gets events that sell out and have huge mark ups like this all the time. The mark ups always fall and are lowest right before the event. |

Really? You think hordes of Giants fans are going to buy playoff tickets in KC. I doubt it.

You kidding!? Average rent in SF is something like 2400 a month. Most of my friends that live there are broke as hell making 6 figures.

Is that the area where a lot live on credit beyond their means? I am sure there are a vast quanity there well off. Besides san Francisco having more, a lot more. They also have a higher cost of living. Our jacked up ticket prices might not seem as high to them.

This is what I'm doing, too. I bought game 1 tickets probably way too early about 10 days ago at about $675. After I saw what happened with the ALCS, I started to look into it. My tickets in comparable sections went up to almost $1,000, but tickets as a whole were not selling quickly at all. The day before we won the ALCS there were about 4,000 for game 2, and the day after the number of tickets actually increased.
A few hundred tickets sold right after the Giants won, but they were almost all in the expensive sections for only about an hour (so probably rich Giant fans making plans), and after that 1 or 2 hour flurry, ticket buying stopped again. This morning there are still about the same number of tickets available in the cheap seats as late last night. So, last night I sold off my game one tickets for a healthy profit (I priced them to sell, made sure they were the cheapest in the section), and I'm planning to buy back into game 2 after the inevitable crash. People are holding on at a level thats just too high, and they'll get nervous Sunday night or Monday morning.
