Crying babies in a restaurant
What is your take on them? Should a parent get up and have to leave if a baby is wailing away? Does it depend on the restaurant? Does it depend on the amount of wailing?

Duration is usually what sets it off for me. Little kids or babies get upset and wail, we all get that, but to sit there and just let them scream on and on while other people are trying to eat is just unacceptable. After a few minutes, take the child to the restroom or outside. Parents that sit there and let their kids scream deserved to be ridiculed and/or kicked.

I'll give them a little extra time if they're trying everything to get the kid to settle down. But if you're sitting there ignoring your kid because you think "all babies cry, it's ok"....you can go **** yourself. |

This is why I really only eat at bars. If you see a baby at a bar, you can bet the parents know how to shut it up.

A stiff shot of whiskey? Or do they just put it in the trunk?

I'd be much more tolerant in a fast-food restaurant than in a fine dining restaurant. Well, honestly I guess I should say that I'd be less intolerant.
I could see people stopping in a fast-food place while they're out running errands and stuff, and sometimes you just get hungry. You still should take the baby and food outside if the kid is being obnoxious, but I can see the situation occurring and not holding a grudge. In a fine restaurant where you made reservations and people are out on dates, there should be no children. If you want to go on a date, get a babysitter.

This. I think it's a set up for parents to take their small children to adult places such as fine dining, theater, some sporting events, etc. The kids are gonna get bored or cranky and cry or whine. Then the parents get pissed at the kids. WTF? If you can't afford $50 on a sitter once a month, I'm not sure you should be going to those places anyway. We take our kids to family appropriate places and save the adult activities for ourselves. We're far from perfect parents but I think we have this one aced. Kids are 5 and 2 BTW. |

We've been lucky so far that our baby has really only done this once. We stopped eating and got a bottle for him and that was that. We are always prepared though when we take him out with us to be ready to have our dinner bagged up to go. It should just be part of having a baby that you know there is a chance that your dinner might have to be cut short.
