Blue Light

I spend long hours on the computer and notice that I get lethargic after long period of time. My eyes start to hurt and feel strained. Recently I even had a hemorrhage in one of my eyes where one of the blood vessels burst (really not actually harmful, just not pleasant to look at me)

I've been reading about blue light and it's effects. I have a blue light filter on my cell phone and it seems to help me wind down at night if I'm using it. Anyone try any blue light computer screens? Any luck? Any home made options? I have a 30 inch wide screen monitor.

I can't speak to the blue light, but I would also take a look at bias lighting. Might help in your case.

you should have your blood pressure tested, a broken vessel in your eye is a sign of HBP.

How long has it been since your last eye exam? From a real optometrist. Not the guy in the mini-office next to the glasses showroom at Wal Mart. I have been near sighted for my entire life to varying degrees. I recently found out that my near vision is also starting to crap out a bit and I could use bifocals or progressives. I just had them do the lenses up for distance vision instead and grabbed some cheap reading glasses. You might want to go get checked.

I was going to suggest the same thing.

I work IT, so I'm staring at a screen all day.
I started to experience headaches at around 5pm everyday. All of them felt like Eye-strain. After an exam, I found out my eyes are still perfect vision, but my eyes are straining so hard to maintain focus that it causes headache.

I got rx glasses and have not had problems since.

I'm like -2.5. Maybe I'm getting an astigmatism. Ack. It's been a few years since my last exam.

I went 20 years between eye exams and had the same issues you described. I now where glasses for the first in my life. I still have 20/20 vision but I get wicked eye strain and these glasses have taken care of that.

My doctor said that in order for my eyes to maintain 20/20 it was like riding a bike around the block when I was 20. Now it's like riding a bike 200 miles. It take a lot more effort.
