Candylicious: Round 1, Heats 65 through 68

Here are the rules. This will be a head to head tournament. For efficiency's sake, I will run four heats in each thread.

Therefore, I will put up four pairs of candies. For each pair, you will identify the candy that you would most like to have at the moment of voting. It doesn't necessarily have to be your favorite candy overall, just the one that sounds good right now. For visualization purposes, you may assume that you're out trick or treating (dressed as former stateswoman Condoleeza Rice), and the woman at the door is offering you your choice of two options. You can only pick one, or if you would turn them both down, you can pick zero (not to be confused with the Zero bar).

So to summarize, you will vote for four candies in each thread, one candy per heat. And here they are!

Heat 65: Raisinets versus Nestle's Crunch

Heat 66: 3 Musketeers versus Mallo Cup

Heat 67: Rolo versus Nik-L-Nip

Heat 68: Swedish Fish versus Sweetarts

My votes:

Nestle's Crunch over Raisinets - Nestle's Crunch is great, and I don't like raisins in my chocolate. Raisins are fine on their own, but a detriment to chocolate.

Mallo Cup over 3 Musketeers - 3 Musketeers is perhaps the greatest lesson that something is not delicious just because it's chocolate. There's too much nougat for the chocolate, and come on, give me some caramel or something. They're so close to being a delicious Milky Way and yet so far. I haven't had a Mallo Cup since childhood and am not sure if I like them, but I'd pick one over a 3 Musketeers based on potential.

Rolo over Nik-L-Nip. Rolos are good, though I wish they were about 15 percent larger on an individual basis. I've mentioned before that I could never figure out if you eat the Nik-L-Nip bottle or just suck the juice out. If it's the first answer it doesn't taste good and if it's the second answer there's not enough juice.

Sweetarts over Swedish Fish - On name alone, Swedish Fish seems gross. When I look at them, they could be good if they're tart, but I'd worry that they're hot cinnamon or something. I'll take the safe play here and go with Sweetarts, which are delicious and are the undisputed leader of pressed powder candy.

At least 68.

We're getting close to the end, though. It's less than 90, but I don't know exactly since I have to vet the entries as I go.

With you on all of this ecept Mallo Cups. They have some kind of weirdness in the chocolate, like toasted coconut or something. They're the far inferior Valomilk.

So my votes are:

Crunch
3 Musketeers
Rolo
Sweetarts

I want to like 3 Musketeers, I really do. But they're not substantial. I take a bite and and there's nothing to chew. I have to let it dissolve on my tongue, and that's not very satisfying.

Do you not like the chocolate or the caramel or the unique semi-conical shape? It seems like a formula for success to me.

It's the quality. Tastes like crappy chocolate and crappy caramel.

I agree that the idea of a rolo is good....but every time I've bought them I've been disappointed.

I agree, they are disappointing. But something in the Mallos that I consistently find revolting. I keep trying to like them.

That last one was tough, but finally pulled the leaver for Sweet Tarts. It was not easy to do that though.
