I know they are very common in the South but feel they are an underrated breakfast food.

Tough to beat some cheese grits and bacon.

Not as big a fan of the semi-solid oeuvre [grits, risotto, polenta, oatmeal, etc] as some seem to be, but grits is the best of the bunch. Especially a good savory shrimp grits.
