He's not a maniacal dickbag who is downright incestual when it comes to personnel matters, whether that be player acquisition or hiring coaches. Dorsey has got that over Pioli.
Thus far it looks like he's about even in terms of talent evaluation. No real change. As a business man/negotiator? He's far inferior to Pioli. I guess I prefer him over Pioli because he doesn't have the smug "You're so lucky to have me work for you" east coast attitude. That, and I guess it's not yet certain if he's a terrible GM yet, so it's KIND of like he has some potential to not be bad? Neither are good GMs, and both should be replaced if you're looking to build a team that can compete year-in and year-out in this league. |

I do for sure, but I mentioned it today to eDave. I seriously miss certain elements that Peterson brought. My thing is - I don't think he had adequate spending rights for player personnel.
Peterson was quietly a pretty danged good business man. At least I think & thought so. |

Pioli shoved Cassel down our throats for 4 years and he was absolutely terrible.

I mean, I've been a Chiefs fan my whole life, but why? Just because I live here? That seems like shitty reasoning. They've done nothing to earn my fandom. They clearly don't give a shit about really trying to win a SB, because they're always trying to do it on the cheap. |

If Dorsey will not move on from players who consistently under-perform, (like the Pioli/Cassel relationship), then off with his head.

The thing with Pioli was that we had our O line in place.
Was blowing up the O line really necessary? were Albert and Asamoah asking for that much money? Do you really want to pay an aging running back with no O line in front of him? How was this a good move, by the time we get O line continuity Charles is going to have a lot of miles... |

Of course i'm sure Dorsey is nicer to the janitors and office workers at Arrowhead, so we have that.

yeah what a weirdo psychotic thing for Pioli to do. That gum wrapper deal. That's doing exactly opposite to the players as to whatever this weirdo militia mental mind ****er was trying accomplish.
Talk about creating a disconnect with the players. |

With a GM, it really comes down to how good of an architect they are, how well they understand building a football team. The evidence to date has shown that Pioli and Dorsey are both good scouts under someone else's leadership, but when left to build a team on their own, they don't have the chops to do it. Dorsey has next draft to change my mind on that. Pioli already proved he wasn't ready for prime time...

I do think he was much better at negotiating this year than last year. We got out of some really bad contracts, and even if people may not have wanted Smith or Charles long-term, they were slotted correctly. I can also appreciate that Dorsey takes swings at high positional value players, whereas Pioli typically focused on reaches. Very safe picks. As I've been saying... the approach to 2014 is a good one. We devalued the o-line, focused the front-end of this year's draft on high risk/high reward/high positional value players. I appreciate that he hired a complete stranger to run the defense instead of a Reid crony, and that both were open to hiring a spread consultant to bring a different perspective. The approach works if you draft good talent. So far, we've whiffed and that's a little bit scary. But as you said, still time for these guys to get better. High positional value players can take a little longer to develop. I think a lot of this can be fixed if we can just get some damn drafted players to play and we need to put an ultimatum on Sutton that he better get this defense to ****ing work or he's out the door. |
