Add Gary Hoey to that list, too. Love listening to his live version of "Peace Pipe".

Edgar Cruz plays a classical guitar but his renditions are pretty good.

Definitely Andy Timmons.
Got a little Michael Lee Firkins and Blue Saraceno in the mix as well.

Doug Aldrich, Paul Gilbert and my old buddy Bruce Bouillet (who has a new record coming out that was mixed by another good friend).
There are a ton of great "fusion" guys like Bill Connors, Al DiMeola, Allan Holdsworth and Scott Henderson to check out, if you haven't already. There's an absolutely awesome record called "One of a Kind" by Bill Bruford that features a young Holdsworth (from like 1978) in which he absolutely shreds. Phenomenal guitarist. |

If you're into or can get into L.A. jazz, anything by Larry Carlton is a must, especially his work in the 70's and early 80's. Lee Ritenour is a great guitarist, though rarely flashy, but he's had a few nice records as well.
Another overlooked player is Richie Kotzen (who's also an amazing singer). He's got a new band with Portnoy and Bad Billy Sheehan. It'll have vocals and be on the "commercial rock" side but it'll definitely feature some great playing. |

Tosin Abasi (bet Dane doesn't even know who he is - not that Dane is a dinosaur or anything.. because that's not what I'm saying). I've posted about his instrumental band "Animals as Leaders" a few times here.
Wave of Babies (off new album) Cafo (off his debut, awesome song please watch it)

BTW, been listening to more Walter Trout and Joe Bonamassa lately, too. Walter is truly an underrated treasure.
