ESPN Playoff Machine (2015) is up
Don't forget to mark in tonight's Monday night games
http://espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs/machine Here's what I got. This is without going bonkers with upsets, though I expect certain teams that I'm writing off like San Diego to pull off some of these wins and make life a hell of a lot more interesting than just a butt ton of teams at the top and all the garbage feeders beating on each other with 4-12 and 5-11 records. Again, since picking upsets in the NFL is in some ways harder to do than picking upsets in the NCAA Basketball Tournament, I just went with chalk most of the way. I have Kansas City losing to Arizona and Pittsburgh. AFC 1. New England (12-4) 2. Denver (12-4) 3. Cincinnati (10-5-1) 4. Indianapolis (10-6) 5. Miami (11-5) 6. Kansas City (10-6) Missing the playoffs: Baltimore, Pittsburgh (10-6); Cleveland (9-7); Buffalo, Houston (8-8) NFC 1. Green Bay (13-3) 2. Dallas (12-4) 3. Seattle (12-4) 4. New Orleans (8-8) 5. Arizona (12-4) 6. Philadelphia (11-5) Missing the playoffs: San Francisco (10-6) |

Yeah, the funny one is the "defensive rank"...
NE falls out of the playoffs. Denver #1 with Miami #2... Bills @ Pit / KC @ Ind

Not really. The only homer pick you could make an argument for is beating Denver at Arrowhead, which isn't exactly like sending Kansas City to the Super Bowl or anything.
That NFC picture is just ****ing ridiculous, though. It's 7 teams with winning records, two teams with 7-9 records, and everybody else in the conference has 5 or fewer wins. I should probably do something about that, but that's honestly how I got there, barring trying to take on the impossible task of predicting extreme upsets |

Thing is broken dawg.
1) Select "Home team" as criteria. 2) Notice KC as the no. 3 AFC seed. 3) Switch winner of NO vs BAL to Baltimore. 4) Notice according switch of playoff seeds. 5) Switch winner of NO vs BAL back to N.O. 6) KC doesn't go back to no. 3 seed.

The NFC South is hilarious. If you project them to lose all their non-division games, there exists a scenario where Atlanta goes to the playoffs as the #4 seed with a 5-11 record.
I'm sure it's possible for New Orleans to do the same. I wasn't, however, able to get Carolina in with a 4-11-1 record. |

Here's how it played out for me...
Patriots, 13-3 Broncos, 12-4 Ravens (11-5) @ Colts (12-4) Chiefs (11-5) @ Steelers (11-5) >>> Packers Cardinals Eagles @ Cowboys 49ers @ Saints

Shit. I just realized we've got 3 division games, in which we've royally sucked, and 2 road games against winning teams.

And the North will really **** things up. That whole division is unpredictable. Any team could win or lose any given week.

Each team's got a bunch of divisional games left over so they're guaranteed wins this season. Lucky for us every team is still in play so if those wins are spread around we could still have a chance. Of course, we'll need to beat the Steelers and hope for them to lose all of their games outside of the division. |
