Here's what Texas WR Xavier Worthy said to Chiefs HC Andy Reid

Quote:
The Kansas City Chiefs are confirmed to have met with NFL Combine record-holding Texas WR Xavier Worthy in Indianapolis for a formal meeting.

Worthy could well be a target for Kansas City in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft. He was considered a fringe first-round pick before his impressive display in Lucas Oil Stadium, but now he's consistently being mocked to the Chiefs at the end of Round 1. K.C. met with him before his 4.21s 40-yard dash, and the record-setting run likely didn't change their evaluation of him. It was already apparent from the tape that he was a receiver who could catch the attention of both the front office and the coaching staff.

What exactly did the Chiefs learn about Worthy during his meeting with the team? Well, he has a good sense of humor. Speaking on "The Rich Eisen Show" shortly after the combine, Worthy revealed he had a funny interaction with Andy Reid, centered around the Madden NFL video game franchise.

"Yes sir," Worthy said when asked if he met with Chiefs. "That was actually my first time seeing Andy Reid in person. He looks exactly how he does on the video games."

"Did you tell him that?" Eisen asked.

"Yeah, I did. I did," Worthy chuckled. "That was my first time seeing him. . . I play a lot of Madden, so he looks exactly like he does in Madden. That's crazy."

"Lifelike, huh," Eisen joked. "More than anyone else you met, Andy (Reid) was spot on."

"Yeah," Worthy said. "Spot on."

If this taught us anything it's that whoever animated Andy Reid for the Madden NFL video game franchise deserves a raise from EA Sports.

It's always good when there is a lighthearted nature to formal meetings at the NFL Combine. As much as it's about football, it's also about getting to know the player and person. Having a sense of humor and being able to joke around with Chiefs HC Andy Reid from the jump is certainly a positive sign.
