Way Too Early AFC 2024 Talk

Been watching draft/offseason shows and I’m fascinated again by this conference..

Should be another year where things are tight and 12-13 wins earns the BYE.

Who are some teams we think are set up to be threats?

Set up to take big steps forward or backward?

Surprise playoff teams and teams ripe to bottom out? (i.e. Chargers 2023)

AFC West outlook?

Fire away.

Seems like the usual suspects to me.

Tier 1: Us

Tier 2: Baltimore/Buff

Tier 3: Houston/Cinci

Tier 4: Miam/Cle

Tier Irrelevant: Other AFC West teams (no point in thinking about them until one is actually a threat)

I could see Cleveland taking a step back because I just don't think Watson is that good anymore. Baltimore could suffer some what of a hangover from feeling like it was their year, only to be right back in the junk pile with everyone not the Chiefs. Not sure I see a real surprise team. Colts maybe if Richardson can improve his throwing in the off season?

Definitely watch the Texans. CJ Stroud MIGHT have the sophomore slump, but that team has playmakers on both sides of the ball. I want to think the Browns will contend with that defense, but what is Watson any longer? A fossilized Joe Flacco looked worlds better than he did, up until he remembered he was Joe Flacco in the playoffs. The Ravens will still be a threat, but no other team really scares me out there, and that's including the Bills.

I think the AFC West is ours again with the Raiders and Chargers maybe battling out for a wild card. Antonio Pierce really seems to have the Raiders believing, but their QB situation sucks with Grapes having a two game suspension (currently). I'm really looking to see what Harbaugh can do with a talented roster like the Chargers have, but they are in such cap hell I'd be surprised if he contended for the West in year one.

This feels like a very 13-4 kind of year for the Chiefs on 2-18-24. Lol

The Texans are obviously the team you expect to make a huge jump and go all-in with their star QB on a rookie contract.

The Bengals will be back, but will their defense improve? OL?

I think the Jets are being overlooked. I know Rodgers is old and coming off a serious injury, but that team is dangerous if he's even 75% of what he was. I expect them to win the division.

Prediction: More than half the teams have "loaded up" yet again to try to stop the Chiefs. And like 6 of them will submissively urinate themselves

Jacksonville is an a major pendulum year. Gotta figure out if Trevor is worth a market setting deal and I’m not sure there’s much pathway to improvement with their roster after they tag Allen.

The Texans may take a jump, but keep in mind they were well behind Baltimore last year.

To be a real threat, they need to make a huge jump and hope the Chiefs stay stagnant or take a step back.

Yeah I think Cleveland drops out of the playoffs. Zero faith in Watson leading that offense.

Yeah, the Texans currently have 60 million in cap space. Expect them to load up for a run.

Hell, Jones could end up there, and they still would have 30+ mill(Not sure who they have to re-sign)

ALL of the AFC West teams are trying to clean up spilled milk from the prior offseasons. The hill to the playoffs in ‘24 is steep as a mother****er for all of them.

That said, LA has Herbert, Harbaugh, and a top-5 pick. They are positioned the best of those three to sneak into a wild card.

I hope the AFCW is a cakewalk. I'd sure take 6 byes on the way to the playoffs.

Cincy has a year left before the cap hits come. They'll be tough. Ravens have a ****ton of talent, and we love to make fun of Lamar but he and Harbitch are a tough out. Cleveland can sneak up bitches because of that defense, but they can't win shit, unless they roll with Flacco (who would have thought that huh? LOL). Watson is shit-braised dicks.

Buffalo walks through the East probably. Miami I feel like has been exposed. They'll make a little noise, but I don't think that horse can run. Brother****ing Cheatriot ****bag is out until they can accumulate some talent. NYJ will get hype, but Rodgers is a long shot, if he's even viable after the surgery. They probably need 3 out of 5 OL positions to keep him upright. If Buffalo falls off, that's a pretty garbage division.

I see Houston coming out of the South. I don't know how Pedersen/Lawrence shit the bed so thoroughly. Maybe they can regroup and make a run. Stroud/Houston probably cakewalks if they can't. Flaming Tacks are a tire fire. Colts are probalby nothing once Richardson gets hurt 3 plays in..again.

I'm actually really interested to see some of the offseason moves.
