Chiefs Is Veach following the old Seahawks Philosophy?

When Pete Carroll joined the Seahawks, he had a major advantage when it came the draft as he'd just spent eight years coaching In college football. And as a result, he was able to see most of the talent coming through the ranks and proceeded to draft the likes of Kam Chancellor In round five, Richard Sherman In round five, Deshawn Shead was an undrafted free agent, Byron Maxwell was a sixth-round pick, Jeremy Lane was also a sixth-round pick. Whilst the likes of Russell Wilson was picked up In the third round.

Now, what do you think the reaction would be If we drafted unknowns like that? I'm pretty sure it would be the very same reaction that many have expressed during this draft. The bottom line is those "unknowns" that Carroll drafted went on to bring them a Superbowl. So the moral of the story is we need to trust In what Veach Is doing. I actually believe having scouts and a GM who have an eye for decent talents that other teams might not be as high on would be a very big step forward for this organization.

Pete Carroll and the Seahawks showed us how it's done, so hopefully this can be the start of a philosophy that can take us to the promise land.

I'm pretty ok with this draft, but I'm not seeing how Carroll having experience with college players is analogous to Veach's situation at all.

The point is they picked talent no-one had heard of and it paid dividends.

I'm guessing there are way more teams that drafted players no one knew and just sucked like everyone thought they would. This is a strange thing to make a thread about.

Pete Carroll shouldnt get credit for drafting those unknowns; Schneider and McCloughan should. Schneider had to pound the table and convince that coaching staff to draft Russell Wilson. Even had to convince the owner Paul Allen of his draft boards.

With any luck, this draft will prove just how deep and thoroughly researched Veach's scouting department is

No name doesnt have to mean no talent, lets hope Brett lives up to his slick reputation

Carl and Vermeil also drafted players nobody had ****ing heard of.

Kawicka Mitchell and Kris Wilson were names completely from left field. They had everybody at the ESPN table stumped except for Kiper when they were made.

If you're obsessed with players without taking the pulse of other scouts and GMs, you get tunnel vision for those guys. That's clearly what happened to Veach in this draft
