Help/advice - Planning a Visit to KC

Looking to execute the following:

November 18 - Fly from England to New York
November 19 - Watch Chiefs @ Giants
November 21 - Fly to Kansas City
November 26 - Watch Bills @ Chiefs
November 27 - Fly back to New York
November 27/28 - Fly Back Home

Was looking for tips on where would be cheap/good value to stay in Kansas City. My last visit to KC I was stuck in a real Shit Hole so would like to avoid that again if possible.

Thanks

This is what I used to always do. If you stay close to 435, it doesn't take that long to get to Arrowhead. You can get a nicer hotel for a bit cheaper than you would if you were staying in downtown KC or something. If you're not to picky on where you stay or how many beds are in the room, hotwire.com has always been a good tool for me to find nice hotels on the cheap. Especially with traveling around Thanksgiving.

I'm actually heading up to KC this weekend to catch the Royals game on Saturday. Going to stay there Friday and Saturday night. Any recommendations on places I should go or things I need to do?

BBQ of course. Q 39, and KC Joes. Rosedale if possible. Stay in Overland Park. Negro Baseball Hall of Fame. Boulevard Brewing Company. Visit Hospital Hill. Go into KCK for racetrack, Sporting KC and Attractions and shopping. Visit Troost Avenue to see what a war zone looks like. (a.m. Only) Truman Library in Independence. Visit where Municipal Stadium used to be. Try to find visiting teams hotel. Hang out.

There's several ocean front resorts in Olathe. Should be ~76 and sunny.

Careful around 71 highway though..

I know some good places in Denver if you don't mind driving a little further to the game.

Overland Park is nice, but if you cross State Line there are some good dog walking paths to check out.

Might I suggest a hike on the Indian River and Blue Creek trails? I hear that it's a great place to walk you dog.

Post where you are planning to stay and we will let know if we would stay there. Maybe some of us can meet up with you while you are in town.

You don't have to stay way out in Kansas to find a decent hotel room. In Independence (my home town) they just built a new Stoney Creek Hotel at I-70 and MO 291, which is about ten minutes east of Arrowhead. There's lots of restaurants around there too. Or if you like Hilton better, there's a Hilton across the interstate on the north side. And there's a Hereford House Steak restaurant right next door. Killer KC strip steaks:

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

November 21st is two days before Thanksgiving. I'm sure a CPer here in town would love to have you for Thanksgiving Dinner. I'd invite you myself, but I always go out of town to my wife's family's deal.
