Your quarterback-drafting trivia quiz of the week.

In preparation for the 2017 NFL Annual player selection process, I have a quarterback drafting quiz for you.

Here are the background rules:

1. We're talking only about quarterbacks.
2. We're talking about the 47 drafts from 1970 through 2016, nothing before that.
3. For Questions 1 through 3, I'm just taking raw numbers, regardless of how long a franchise has been around. For Questions 4 through 6, for franchises that didn't exist all 47 years, I scaled up their picks to a 47-year extrapolated total.
4. When I talk about draft points, I assume that the pick occurred in the middle of the round and didn't track the actual selection spot. So all first-round picks are the same value, all second-round picks are the same value, etc.
5. I assumed that any pick beyond the 8th round is an 8th round pick, because why not?
6. I sum by franchise. So the Titans include the Oilers, the Rams include all of their various cities, etc. So answer by team name, not city name.

Ready? Here's your quiz.

1. Two franchises have invested in 6 first-round QBs since 1970. Name them. Titans/Oilers and Colts

2. Three teams have invested in only 1 first-round pick since 1970. Three have existed since 1970, and one is newer. Name them. Texans, Cowboys, Saints.

3. Only 1 team has invested 8 or more picks since 1970 in the 1st or 2nd round on QBs. What team? Jets.

4. Regardless of the round taken, what three teams have drafted the most QBs since 1970? Bengals 32, Packers 31, Bears 27

5. Regardless of the round taken, what three teams have drafted the fewest QBs since 1970? Jaguars (15 when scaled up), Saints 17, Seahawks, Vikings, Panthers - 18 with scaling.

6. Including draft point values (see Rule 4 above), what three teams have invested the most draft points on QBs since 1970?

7. Including draft point values (see Rule 4 above), what three teams have invested the fewest draft points on QBs since 1970?

8. Where do the Chiefs rank among the 32 franchises in terms of total draft points invested?

9. What is the average number of quarterbacks drafted per 46 years of existence in the NFL? 23

10, How many total quarterbacks have been drafted by the Chiefs since 1970? 21

Oh, excellent question. For this, we won't count supplemental draft picks. Only regular draft.

Nope on Cleveland. Cleveland only drafted 5 in the regular draft (though you can get credit for Bernie Kosar in the supplemental).

Johnny Manziel
Mike Phipps
Brandon Weeden
Brady Quinn
Tim Couch

Correct on the Oilers/Titans.

Marcus Mariota
Jake Locker
Vince Young
Steve McNair
Jim Everett (thought Everett never signed with them)
Dan Pastorini

One other team has drafted six in the first round.

Excellent. The dirty cheater increases their number. Overall, they generally got productive quarterbacks from their six.
