LNBS: Do the Chiefs need to look at trading for a cornerback?
Okay, first off great win today, not letting that be forgotten. However, there are some things that are sticking out to me right now going forward...

I think Dorsey and Reid need to seriously consider possible trade options in the corner market. I don't know what might be out there, but there has to be somebody who is proven in the league that could provide us some depth.

I like Gaines' potential as much as the next guy, but this knee thing is becoming far too wishy washy. There's no way we can count on him to be out there week in and week out. If he is, great, he's a starter. But for how long? Idk, but he clearly isn't healthy right now.

DJ White has potential too, I believe. But the kid isn't ready right now for a starting job. Without Gaines, he becomes just that, a starter.

Maybe Acker is an option, I really don't know, but he needs to at least be dressing out from now on because dressing 4 corners when one of them is Gaines is a risky proposition to say the least.

What do you guys think? Make a trade? If so, who do you target? If not, why not?

You're not going to trade for anyone during the season that is any better than the guys we have unless you're trading more than draft picks. In short, I think we can manage with the guys we have - especially once Houston gets back.

I certainly hope you're right, but the thought of lining up DJ White against New England or Pittsburgh, even with Houston... is not very soothing.

This is one of those positions though where really I don't think the learning curve would be all that difficult. You aren't asking the guy to come in and learn your offense in and out.

The guy would need to be able to play respectable man coverage, and that's really about it. Not too complex to learn coverages for an NFL DB.

I don't expect a trade, though.

As we've seen with rookies especially, there's a learning curve. It's not just going out and covering a man every down.

Maybe a reclamation project and they'd have to take alot of salary, but maybe Haden?

Yeah the corner situation is worrisome right now. I shudder at the thought of facing Drew Brees next week missing Peters and/or Gaines. He tore up Carolina today for 465 yards and 4 TD's. Without our top corners he could do the same to us.

I'd like to see an acquisition this year without killing our draft picks next year obviously. There's gotta be someone to add because Gaines is clearly ****ed. Maybe done. But I will say getting Houston back will help the corners. Goddamn I love our safeties.
