Abdullah's Father Has Passed Away

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

There's sad news from the Kansas City Chiefs. The team has announced that safety Husain Abdullah has lost his father.

Abdullah announced his father's death in a tweet Saturday afternoon.

It's been a rough few weeks for Abdullah as he's been dealing with a concussion and was listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Oakland Raiders.

A funeral for Abdullah's father will be held at the Islamic Center of Greater Kansas City Sunday afternoon.

The team hasn't announced if Abdullah will definitely miss the Raiders' game.

That's kind of silly that they'd write his absence from the game wasn't determined on the day OF his fathers funeral.

a couple of years back. abdullah got a 15 yarder penalty for prayer in the endzone. i dont understand it but i think his dad was proud of his son.

I think the NFL passed a rule after that.. since it was okay to put your hands together and pray in a Christian manner, but somehow praying in a Muslim manner was a penalty.

RIP to his father and prayers out to Abdullah.

EDIT: Okay, maybe there was just a rule clarification that offseason about it.. apparently it was the slide, not the prayer that drew the flag.
