Chiefs found a new offensive lineman in Charles Tuaau, who was on defense

Charles Tuaau moved from defensive line to the offensive line in practice on Monday.

“It’s a situation where you take guys and you see what they can do on either side of the football,” offensive coordinator Doug Pederson said. “You take a receiver and make him a (defensive back) and you take a DB and make him a receiver.

“We’ve done that throughout the course of the year, especially with practice-squad players. It’s an evaluation process and we’ll give him more (reps) as the days unfold.”

Tuaau is a 6-foot-5, 310-pound rookie free agent from Texas A&M-Commerce.

“He’s big, physical, he’s powerful,” Pederson said. “He fits that offensive line mode. Right now, he’s learning. We just have to bring him along slowly and see what he can do once he gets in there in live action.”

The Chiefs play the Tennessee Titans on Friday at Arrowhead Stadium in preseason game No. 3 and likely will be without projected offensive line starters Eric Fisher and Jeff Allen, who hurt.

Why would they do this now and not at the beginning of camp or during OTAs. I'm sure he will clear waivers and make the practice squad but no way he is ready to take a roster spot.
