Pro Wrestler dies from accident in ring (Video)

News reports indicate that El Hijo took the initial move before the 619 in the trachea and experienced whiplash. Video of the entire match and the aftermath is above. The sequence that apparently led to El Hijo's fatal injury begins around the 6:20 mark. El Hijo takes a dropkick from Rey to set up the 619, and then slumps on to the ropes.

You don't want to watch. Dude has a severed spine and is lying limp with his neck suspended on one of the ropes. And the other wrestlers are still jostling the ropes and doing handsprings and flips over his body as life leaves it.

I'm not prone to squeamishness, but seeing what was happening knowing the outcome hit the pit of my stomach like an ISIS video.

I don't fault the other wrestlers for not knowing the precise situation, but someone should have been trained to spot this and stop all activity.

Dude may have survived, only to have additional fatal damage done by subsequent showmanship.

When I was into wrestling, I was always pissed that Rey Mysterio repped San Diego because he got the main even of every ****ing show that came here. One year I went to a Smackdown taping that happened the Tuesday after the Undertaker won the Royal Rumble and ****ing Rey Mysterio headlined the show and Undertaker didn't even appear on the show (after taping was over, his music rang and he stood at the top of the ramp in darkness then left, probably a body double, that was it).

Anyway, Rey Mysterio sucks and the 619 is a stupid and apparently dangerous move.

RIP to the guy who died. Sad.
