Possibly. He can chew up blockers and free up Houston and or Hali. However I think it will be a wash due to the offsides he will draw from his "quick first step"

It depends on what bar you're setting for a good season. I would imagine we're going to see plenty of situations where Ford is on the field with both Hali and Houston. Somebody is going to benefit from that. It may be Ford, it may be one of the other two, it may be one of the down linemen, it may even be a blitzing db, depending on who the offense leaves one-on-one. So yeah, I think he'll have an impact. Does that mean he'll have rookie of the year numbers? Probably not. He's in a platoon situation at best right now. The guys who win rookie of the year are usually filling a hole and don't have anybody in front of them. And hopefully it stays that way all year. Don't want Hali or Houston going down again, with or without Ford...

Ford will probably get a decent number of snaps, and be more impressive than folks think. Around 400 snaps, maybe... about 25 QB hurries.. 5 sacks.

I didn't watch a lot of pre-season - however what I saw when i did, was; a big motor guy, sort of aimless (adjusting to the new league speed) - I think he'll make some big mistakes but also have some dynamite pursuits.

He didn't flash at one point during preseason. You would think being a rookie you would want to prove yourself. I didn't like the pick and thought it was a reach at the time. I think he has a lot to learn thankfully he has some of the best LBers in the league to help him along the way. I can see him getting off to a slow start which is normal and progressing later on.

If he does it will probably be a byproduct of teams having to account for the other guys on the defense- at least in his rookie year.
He has the freak athleticism to be a force, but clearly has a wide margin of technical proficiency to make up to truly become a guy that the offense has to account for on every down. In some ways it sort of reminds me of when Tamba came in. He had an above year in comparison to expectations his rookie year. A large part of that was due to the attention Allen commanded. You also saw the effects of when Jared was gone, Hali's numbers dropped off, and it took him some time to adjust and improve once teams were able to focus more on containing him. If we're lucky, Dee will improve his technique, and if he's able to make the jump from year 1 to year 2 like Poe did, then we hit the jackpot!

No.
Why? The QB will get rid of the ball before the pass rush can get there because we can't cover.

Depends on how quickly he develops.
If all he continues to do is his speed rush, teams will run draws right under him and neutralize him. If he develops counter moves and stays disciplined, he can be a huge factor. |

He'll help the pass rush, it's the other parts of his game that are a concern at this point.

I think Ford will continue to rely on what got him his 1st round designation. His speed move. By the end of the year he may be discouraged enough to be more coachable. He's JAG for this year.

We should be ecstatic if he gets 3 sacks over the season.
