LOL. Similar experience this week.

My GF was at a house party. House goldfish were living in a lake of an aquarium which was way to small. The owners admitted their intention to just letting them die. She offered to take. Gave to me to 'save'.

Yada, yada, $300 bucks, yada. I have "free" goldfish and now know nearly EVERYTHING about keeping Fantail goldfish.

Enjoy caring for this new animal, that requires more support than a 14 year old child

So your wife wants a dog. No worries bro. They say a dog will add years to your life. If it's a Doberman pup than it's just added security while you're away.

This dog is going to cost me at least a $1000 to fix him between his teeth and fixing him. Our vet is good so I have feeling this is to cost a lot...

My wife does dog rescue. Tue we got rid of the rottie we had, and the same day a black German shep looking puppy followed me around all day at work. He was very under nourished, dirty, and no collar. I took him home, and the same night the lady brought the rottie back. Now I've got one dog too many til I can get rid of the rottie again.

My wife does dog rescue so we get dogs that are in bad shape, help nurse them to good health and adopt them out. We like the rottie and were planning on keeping him. But my oldest daughter is about to have a baby. This particular rottie has a thing about high pitched noises and seems to think anything making that noise is a toy. He tried to bite a little girl that stays with us when she was crying once. So as much as we like him, it's just not a chance I'm willing to take. Aside from that issue he's a very good pet. Gets along great with other dogs, and people. We've had the rottie about 7 months. When we got him he had been locked to a tree for most of his life and took a while to get him used to house rules etc.

Good. You struck me as one of irresponsible pet owners.

I'm glad that this not a situation like that.

Yeah, I'm still a dipshit. But we do our best to help out animals. We've had a good amount of rescue dogs that come thru here. Sometimes it's hard to let them go, but it's always for a chance at a new home and better life than they had before they got rescued.
