I actually think Alex to Arizona is very realistic. Would be a good trade for both sides

If Alex Smith has a great year and takes the Chiefs to the AFC Championship, they're not trading him in 2018.
If Alex Smith has a 2016-like year or continues to regress, no team, especially the Cardinals, are giving the Chiefs a 2nd round pick for him. Everything you wrote is preposterous. |

Wouldn't mind the Chiefs taking a flyer on Allen Lazard of Iowa State in the middle rounds. Talented kid, who has basically had a poorer version of Alex Smith as his QB in his career.

I also think its kinda wishful thinking that we spin Smith out for a high draft pick. We will want the cap space, so why pay something you might get for free if you just wait.

Arizona likes to go downfield. Alex Smith doesn't.

Arians wanted Alex in 2013. If Palmer retires, I can easily see a scenario where we trade Alex to them for a pick.
