Black Sabbath and Ozzy back in studio
Black Sabbath Announce First Studio LP With Ozzy Osbourne Since 1978
13 produced by Rick Rubin, due June 2013 By Evan Minsker on January 14, 2013 at 07:27 p.m. The original lineup of metal titans Black Sabbath-- Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, and Geezer Butler (minus drummer Bill Ward, who left the band last year)-- are releasing their first studio album together since 1978's Never Say Die!. More dates will be announced later this year. Below their itinerary, watch the band perform "War Pigs" in 1970. It's not the original line-up without Bill Ward.

Ward was a huge part of their sound imo. If they can find a drummer that has his brutality, I'd be interested. Brad Wilk is a good drummer, but he doesn't have the chops for this type of metal imo. But who knows, maybe he can expand to this style.

I'm a vintage Black Sabbath fan, but I'm not a fan of old men continuing to try to make the same rock music they made in their youth (especially front men and other vocalists). As far as I can tell, Ozzy is well past his expiration date. I'm not sure about the others.

I'll give the album a listen. Rubin is pretty good at pulling the best out of a band.

Epic news is Epic... talk about hotly anticipated.
Rubin will bring out the best in these guys, it'll probably go down as one of their very best albums. |

With Brad Wilk in the mix, it makes me wonder if they are going to put some kind of powerpop booty rock album together, which is not something I would be interested in. But, it's Rick Rubin, I hope he gets them to put up the good writes they are capable of.

From past interviews with Ward it appears that the problem is Ozzy's management, cough, cough - Sharon. Supposedly Ozzy wanted Ward and Butler to get a significantly smaller share of revenue.
