Chief 2015 draft

I keep reading threads that speculate about the Chiefs first round pick. And just about all of them drift toward a position of need. But the Chiefs no longer are playing that game. They are taking the best available player available at the time. So with pick No. 18, who knows which player will be first on their board? They worked on need positions in free agency. Now all they have to do is draft the 10 best players available according to their depth chart. This, to me, is exciting. Unpredictable. But exciting.

one thing KC is exceedingly fortunate about is the fact that this year's draft class is almost as deep as last year's draft class at WR. Maybe, just maybe, KC goes with a WR in the first round?

I think this draft will show us a lot about how Dorsey and Reid do business, and how the Chiefs will be built during the next few years. I, for one, am excited about this new direction. I think the Chiefs are finally going to be in the conversation when people discuss elite teams in the NFL. Not there yet, but building.

We have 1 tight end
1 center that has only 1 start
Only 1 ILB, and he's returning from what could be a career ending injury
We have 2 receivers
We only have 2 and 2 possibles at corner
We might not have Houston till week 10
They have 1 NT
They don't have a RT
They only have 2 safeties

I know they filled out the roster a bit in free agency, but there are still holes. Even immediate holes for starters.

I think you paint a picture of too much gloom and doom. The other tight end is back, and he could be incredible. If you have seen the film of Derrick Johnson working out you would know he is in the best shape of his life. Stephenson can be a great right tackle now that the issues are behind him. Defense is solid, and I believe there will be a lot of defense in this draft. So the needs aren't really that great. Just need depth and a few stars to come out of this great draft that is deep and with 10 picks. I like being a Chiefs fan right now.

I totally agree, they seem to have an honest to goodness vision for what they want and they also seem committed to doing the overwhelming majority of the building through the draft.

Dorsey is going to wow in this draft IMO... people have had their share of complaints about his drafts, but look at last year... they say if you get 2-3 real contributors out of your seven picks, it was a good draft.

Gaines played well enough to merit strong talk of starting this year.

Thomas is little bolt of lightning, he's a flat out killer.

Fulton started all 16 games and started coming on the last 5.

Ford flashed plenty, with more grooming theres no reason he shouldnt be a hella rusher.

Four guys out of a shortened draft of six that strongly contributed, that was a damn good draft... Dorsey - Reid are everything that Pioli - Haley were supposed to be.
