Yeah, definitely slow to panic and slow to unbridled optimism.

From the tweet, saying the 3 year run was over at that point was pure idiocy and to out-idiot the next person for clicks, but even if making the playoffs wasn't far fetched, doing anything once they got there was becoming questionable.

3-4 while not even being competitive against the Bill and Titans was like 0-24 versus the Texans or 4th quarter interception in the SB down 10 and only having scored 10, in terms of being a real playoff contender.... and they were also fortunate to not play Rodgers and for the Cowboys to be missing a decent chunk of offense, because the Chiefs' offense wasn't exactly back to form yet.

At that point it's not even really about confidence, it's more about thinking uh, if you guys are going to do it, you really need to start doing it.... now.

Nice troll attempt, but he was most definitely not right. His post obviously was calling for Andy's resignation, probably Spags' as well, plus a number of players gone.

The reality was there's not much anyone can do when the entire starting OL goes down to injury. Just the fact that both starting Ts didn't play in the SB was practically the nail in the coffin (no NFL team in history has won a SB missing both starting tackles; nearly all teams that played without their starting LT also lost).

So what really 'needed' to happen was what did: rebuild the OL. Bring in a couple key defensive players, get Thorny back full-time, get a little younger/more athletic at CB and LB.

Done. Done. Done. Done and done.

That guy can go pound sand.

What do you bet that somewhere during the losses Kevin Kietzman was telling anyone who would listen that Mahomes wasn't the answer

I posted at the time that the offensive struggles weren't that hard to understand. We had new starters along the entire offensive line. Some of whom are rookies. Our left tackle is a young guy who primarily played on the right side in what is basically a wildcat offense. So it was naturally gonna take time.

Now though...the cookies are ****in ready. They're fluffy and golden brown. Time to pull them out of the oven and...eat them? I don't know where to take this analogy but you get the idea.

FTR, the strongest I termed the situation was 'running out of runway'

I think that's fair, but TBH I was increasingly doubtful of the comprehensiveness of the defensive turnaround. I can't say I was never hopeful, . . . I expected them to snap into shape immediately upon Gay's return. That was overly ambitious, but I never expected the Steelers to let go of such a perfect fit as Ingram, which dovetailed with a more realistic progression with Gay's return [and Jones returning inside].

I was very worried at how bad the defense was performing early. I mean that shit was HISTORICALLY bad. Per the graphic attached, unbridled optimism was not realism. But I knew people were out, and I knew that Spags has a history of needing every piece in sync before everything starts clicking.

Now to pray for continued health and well-being.
