Under the old rules -- not a catch. Didn't complete the act of catching the ball because he didn't "survive the ground".
Under the new rules -- catch. Possession/control, two feet down, and then a third step and/or stretch for the goal line (football moves). First and goal from the 1/2 yard line. I honestly don't CARE what the hell the rule is, but just enforce it consistently. If the new rules will allow that, GREAT. The fewer the controversies, the better.
