Chiefs Offseason Planet Evaluation: Daniel Sorensen

It's time for Hammerin' Dan's grade card. How do your think our hybrid SS/LB/Enforcer did this year?

Dan played in 15 games this year with 14 starts. He recorded 66 tackles and 22 assists, had 6 passes defensed, and 1 interception for 3 yards. He recovered 1 fumble and recorded 1.5 sacks.

Means nothing.

Mitchell, Sorenson, Parker, Nelson and Marcus ****ing Peters were all top 10 in tackles. Peters was actually third on the team in solo tackles.

The team was ranked 25th in the league in stopping the run.
That fact, coupled with the fact that our secondary leads the team in tackles tells me that we have a TERRIBLE front 7.
It does mean something, IMO.

I’m being reasonable when I say he sucks.

Sorenson led the team in solo tackles. Parker was second and Peters third. Those three are legitimately our three worst and/or most disinterested tacklers. The stats there don’t do much to help ol’ Danny.

Not sure that means much either.

Eagles and Vikings were #1 and #2 against the run this season. Vikings had Harrison Smith, Sendejo, Waynes and Newman in the top ten. Eagles had Malcolm Jenkins, Darby, Mills, McLeod, Robinson and Corey Graham in the top ten. All defensive backs.

Dan missed the C grade slightly, and people want to see a lot less of him going forward. Maybe part of that is that less time for him means that Berry is back?

I'm surprised that he's seen as net descending. I view him as still ascending.

1.90 Grade (4.0 point scale)
-0.48 Performance Relative to Expectations (+ = Positive Surprise, - = Negative Surprise)
-1.70 Desired Future Role (+ is larger role, - is smaller role)
-0.34 Ascending/Descending (+ is ascending, - is descending)
6.03 Trade Value (Round)

He was getting pushed around as the LB role. I'm talking about the past quarter of the season when he was back in the safety role and was just missing tackles left and right.
