The Chiefs have been looking at TEs with Tye this week and in September they looked at Jace Amaro.
Tye averaged 45 receptions, 430 yards, and two touchdowns in his two Giants seasons. In his short Jets stint, he had just four catches for 38 yards in three games. Demetrius Harris has NOT been very production with 5 targets and 2 catches this season. Last week he had two drops against Washington. KC probably would not be replacing Harris as he would have $400,000 in dead money. Ross Travis is the most likely TE to be replaced if KC is done with that experiment. Bucky Hodges with the Carolina Panthers practice squad and MyCole Pruitt with the Houston Texans practice squad could be good receiving TEs. Neither one thrives on blocking. Both are athletic and can get in the way of defenders but don't really over power anyone. Hodges had 1747 yards, 20 TDs, 133 receptions in 3 seasons at Virginia Tech. He is only 22 years old is 6-6, 257 lbs and runs a 4.57 40. Minnesota drafted him in the 6th round but put him on IR and then later released him. He must have recovered because he is now on a PS. |

I think Chiefs had him for a visit before the draft.

Ross Travis is virtually worthless and Harris has reverted to he pre-December/January 2016 form, so it makes sense that Veach is looking around for a better 3rd TE.

I think I'll give him a chance to bounce back.

I'm not willing to say Harris has reverted back because it's only been 1 game, but I'm all in on replacing Ross. He's been terrible.

I'd snap up Bucky Hodges.
I liked him as a red-zone TE; a #3 type who could be trained up.

Seems odd Travis never developed - gosh looking at his build and knowing his history in Basketball - you'd think he'd have turned into at least a DECENT player. What a let down he's been.

He really wasn't good enough to be on the 53 last year or this year and considering his inability to block or catch, no team would have snatched him off the practice squad. |
