12 year vets shouldn't be.

I think it also makes people think, "If Alex is making the same mistakes without the upside, why aren't we starting the rook?"

Maybe I'm wrong, but that's how I read comments like his.
I have no problem with that line of thought.

I am not one of these people that thinks there is no way that Mahomes should start this year.

I think young QBs that are ruined by starting too soon are ruined primarily because they lack the maturity to handle that.

Mahomes strikes me as kid that has the maturity to learn from his mistakes, and the work ethic to grow and improve from those mistakes.

Frankly, I think his playmaking ability could win a couple of games that Alex wouldn't.

But I also know, barring injury, Alex will be the starting QB, so I have to resign myself to that.

I simply pointed out a flaw that can be cleaned up.

But idiots want to idiot.

I think Reid was letting Nagy call the plays in the first half, and I'm pretty sure Green commented on that.

When I watched the Mahomes plays-

a. 77 looked to move a little early on a few-was it just me or did that happen?
b. Mahomes needs to tuck the ball away when he runs.

I am sure he can grow. He is not the almighty. A few of the 'issues' he had could be made by anyone. He did not do anything that negatively changed the course of the game. (2 weeks in a row). Alex will start the game and the season. Hopefully there are games where AS can come out and PM can finish to get experience. Just a little more optimistic.

Hopefully, someone can call a better middle of the game than whoever did last year.

Agreed with you last night about the footwork=almost INT and still do today.

Agree 100% with this post as well.

Reid is much more conservative with the playcalling in the regular season too. No doubt that Mahomes has been good for Smith though.

The Kansas City Chiefs cruised past the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday night, behind an impressive performance by their quarterback duo of Alex Smith and Patrick Mahomes, the latter of whom tossed two touchdown passes.

Chiefs RB Charcandrick West topped 100 yards on just seven carries and the Chiefs took advantage of an Andy Dalton, AJ McCarron-led Bengals offense that only mustered four field goals, in a 30-12 Chiefs victory. With that we give you our PFF exclusive takeaways from the contest for each team.

TOP 5 GRADES:

HB Charcandrick West, 84.9 overall grade

DI Rakeem Nunez-Roches, 81.6 overall grade

LB Josh Mauga, 81.3 overall grade

LB Ukeme Eligwe, 80.8 overall grade

ED Justin Houston, 80.6 overall grade

PERFORMANCES OF NOTE:

QB Patrick Mahomes, 76.4 overall grade
The Chiefs first-round pick had a solid night completing 71 percent of his passes for a pair of touchdowns while adding 29 yards on just three carries. Mahomes showed his athleticism outside of the pocket and displayed the arm strength that caught the NFL’s attention before the draft. Mahomes’ most important statistic of the night however, was having a “Zero” in the turnover column. He finished the evening with an impressive 83.3 adjusted completion percentage.

RB Charcandrick West, 84.9 overall grade
Kansas City ran all over the Bengals defense tonight for a total of 228 yards. West was a huge part of that attack rushing for 113 yards on just seven carries. West displayed his vision and shiftiness, combined with some poor tackling by the Bengals defense, to lead the Chiefs with over 16 yards per carry and an absolutely ridiculous 428.3 elusive rating on five forced missed tackles on his seven carries.

DI Tanoh Kpassagnon, 79.7 overall grade
The Chiefs’ second-round draft pick led the team with four total pressures — all QB hurries — and added a stop in run defense.

ED Earl Okine, 83.5 overall grade
Okine played just eight total snaps, which is why he wasn’t listed among the top five grades. However, he had a sack and two hurries on just seven snaps of rushing the passer. He finished the game with a ridiculous 35.7 pass-rush productivity mark.

Quote:
On Sunday, Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict returned an interception 62 yards for a touchdown before hopping into the stands and waving his arms in the air.

It could be a fond memory that will have to last Bengals fans for a few weeks.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Sunday night that Burfict is looking at a five-game suspension for a hit he laid on Chiefs fullback Anthony Sherman back on Aug. 19. Video of the play in question appears to show Burfict, with 7:58 remaining in the first quarter, unloading on an unsuspecting Sherman after Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith releases a pass headed for tight end Travis Kelce way downfield.

Sherman crept out of the backfield as an eligible receiver, but was not close to being Smith's intended target.

ESPN first reported the development. Rapoport reports that Burfict intends to appeal the ruling.

With the Bengals already missing cornerback Adam Jones due to a one-game suspension for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy, this is a blow the defense simply cannot sustain. Burfict lost the first three games of the 2016 season after the league penalized him for multiple hard hits, culminating in the highly-publicized collision with Antonio Brown in the playoffs last year. Burfict has become synonymous with these monster shots, which have cost him hundreds of thousands in fines over the years.

As Rapoport noted, Burfict is considered a repeat offender, which will not help plays like the one from last Saturday fly under the radar. It will also not help the Bengals, who watched longtime defensive stalwart Rey Maualuga sign with the Miami Dolphins last week. Cincinnati drafted a pair of linebackers -- Carl Lawson in the fourth round and Jordan Evans in the sixth -- who could be in line for a bigger role over the coming months. Lawson had a sack in Sunday's loss to the Redskins.
