I think everyone knew this day was coming when kids would pull out of these bowl games that essentially mean nothing so as not to risk injury and ripping up their winning lottery ticket. It sucks but even a slim chance of getting injured isn't worth it.

I'm sure most kids on the team are disappointed but understand.

Is being a "great teammate" worth the risk of suffering an injury in a meaningless exhibition game (which is what these non-College Football Playoff bowl games are) and hurting your NFL draft stock?

See Notre Dame's Jaylon Smith who lost millions of $$$ because of the serious knee injury he suffered in the Fiesta Bowl last year.

RB is a high risk injury position... if you know you are already going to leave for the NFL there is no point in risking an injury by playing in a meaningless bowl game.

It's not like he's going to lose a TON of money.

Quote:
McCaffrey has a $5 million disability policy if an injury caused him to be permanently disabled, which means he would collect a tax-free $5 million, a source told ESPN's Darren Rovell. He also has a $3 loss of value policy and could start collecting if an injury caused him to slip past the 40th overall pick, according to the source.

Stanford ran the **** out of him while he was there. If I were him, I'd skip the ****ing bowl game too.

Do you get pissed when players don't play a pre-season game?

You're right: the results tell us whether the right choice was made. And the 31-0 humiliation last night "vindicated" my point Ohio State was a terrible, undeserving choice.

No, it didn't. OSU had 1 loss against a good schedule. They weren't a good team, and were too young to be ready, but they no doubt deserved to be there.

They are extremely young and were clearly unready. I tagged them as a loss. But the loss became a "humiliation" because of 2 game-changing missed field goals, Mike Weber fumbling the ball twice, and 2 or 3 critical dropped 3rd down passes early in the game. That many mistakes is unusual for an Urban Meyer coached team and those missed field goals were a dropkick to the nuts.

Ok then them winning it all 2 years ago didn't prove they belonged either. Gotta pick a side and go with it.
