Made in the USA and 98% of the company employs American workers. Every 11th mattress they make is donated to a homeless or battered women's / children's shelter, or halfway house. They have a designer series of mattress covers all done by formerly homeless artists which they were paid for work each was commissioned and the artist is paid royalties on each sale. Pretty nifty outfit.

Great thread, very interesting and timely for us.
We bought a $1500 Serta (king) three years ago, right before we retired. After a year, it had developed horrible recessions where we slept. Serta sent a man out and warrantied it. Now we have been sleeping with a 3/4 in sheet of plywood under each side of the replacement for almost a year to avoid horrible back aches. Neither of the two mattresses were able to be flipped as the original was a pillow top and the replacement doesn't have the same surface on the bottom as the top. Serta has no interest in making us happy. My friends say you have to spend $3000 to $4000 to get a decent mattress. I heard about a mattress company in KC called Hawn bedding company that still makes a mattress that can be flipped. Anyone have any experience with them? We haven't cared for the foam mattresses we have slept on in the past. |

Might wanna see what Costco has in their Kirkland beds. Kirkland is Costco's brand, which they usually purchase from premium brands and rebranded under their label. Last I checked, Stearns and Foster made their beds for them? For example, Kirkland vodka is made by and at the same distillary as Grey Goose. Their canned tuna is single whole cut white albacore, and best on the market outside of way way more expensive small label you might find at like Dean & Deluca or Fox & Obel.

Before we moved off of the grid, the Mrs. used to love Costco and did the majority of our shopping there. I might very possibly own some Kirkland skivvies. But now, the nearest Costco might be at least 200 miles away, as I don't think Springfield has one yet. I am thinking about Amazon or one of those that will ship it to us. Of course then there is the monumental task of getting rid of the old one. I am guessing it would bellow a significant cloud of black smoke once you got it lit |
