That is one aspect that does confound at times, for me. If you mean to insult or demean someone, and you want it to sting so much you purposefully use racial slurs, why does the actual use make anything worse.

Preaching to the choir, here. Every time I see people extending the range and scope of the word, I try to ask them what their intent is. Because more and more it seems their intent was to rob the concept of all shame and turpitude.
