****Official Royals @ Orioles Gamethread 9/11****

9/11 Big day for remembrance. Big day to think back on that horrible day. Not to get all political, but this day will be in our history forever.

Now moving on, also a big series to think back on how we whooped that ass in the playoffs last year. Duffy on the hill to start the series and National tv tomorrow and SNB Sunday night. Lets do this shit

Yeah true. I wasn't thinking of that. But again, we swept through the AL last year w/o home field, w/o our best pitchers rested while theirs were, and against the 2 best teams in the AL.

Baseball playoffs are a crapshoot.

What's our record since Alex Gordon came back?

What was our record without him?

I know a lot of people come here just to say that everybody else is freaking-out, I think it makes them feel aloof, intelligent, smarter than others, and the voice of reason. That's fine, but at this point if people aren't getting concerned about how deep into the playoffs we're going to make it - based on how other teams are playing and executing - then their just as goofy as the people saying the sky is falling. We all get the "when we peak" and "you don't want to peak too early" (which is arbitrary unless you know the awesome/suck cycle tendencies nearly perfectly) but I'm not sure any of that applies really.

What I have seen is Ned tinkering with the lineup and experimenting. Some of it supposedly due to injury, some is obviously due to sickness, but I'll bet a lot more of it has to do with a huge cushion and a desire to know who might be ready to step-in if needed (experimenting). Who knows, I could be wrong. The batting order thing doesn't bother me so much, but the lack of HDH is something I'm ready to quit seeing - but the D part of HDH is apparently more injured than we thought. I also suspect Ned's comments about Holland's job as a closer will remain if for no other reason than his mindset. And that's prolly true, but it's an acknowledgment of something else too... Oh well, you can't be young forever!

Who knows, we know the sky isn't falling, the team had some cushion to experiment, some sickness bit them, and there are always injuries in a LOOOOOONG baseball season.
