Also, I think Wilson may have been going for Brett all along. It was a perfect throw to him

I remember that like it was yesterday. I had WS dreams after that game.

I happen to be Facebook friends with the dude who sat directly in front of her. He posted a pic after I mentioned to him that people where talking about her on a Royals message board. I can't post it because it says I have to meet certain criteria before posting an image. She is pretty hot.

Not me. I was scared to death we were going to get swept in New York. And I swear I saw Brett say several years ago that if they had lost Game 3 they probably would've lost the next two as well because of the past trauma with the Yankees. Thank God they swept those bastards.

But we had never been up on the Yankees 2-0 before. I remembering splitting in NY in 1977 & then winning the 3rd game. I still remember that heartbreak because that 77 team will always be my favorite Royals team.

That's the Team that won 102 Games and had a 16 Game winning streak toward the end of the Season. Dennis Leonard was a machine. I was so heart broken when they got beat by the Yanks....again. Gave up 3 runs in the 9th to lose that game.

He went to Leonard and Gura in the 9th - and neither were ready to pitch. Mark Littell was a train wreck that year, and Whitey was nervous to use him. Mittell lost the 76 series and his ineffectiveness and unreliability cost the '77 series as well.

The 77 loss is still the worst moment of my sporting life.

But because of those previous series, that's why I was spooked in 80 even being up 2-0. I wasn't daring to let myself dream at that point.

Of course, I'm also the guy who, up 38-10 vs. the Colts, actually told my wife, "We're finally gonna win a playoff game!"

Doug Bird should have been used. He didn't flame out until the following year when he gave up the HR to Munson. (Who had not hit a HR in 3 months)

He also in the 8th let Bird face Reggie as a PH, who promptly singled to make it 3-2, and THEN he brought in Mingori to face lefties.

And then the next year ****ing Whitey let a shitty Bird face Munson even when he finally had his "closer" in Hrabosky.

Exactly. Munson had hurt his shoulder and was barely a shell of himself when he blasted that ball into the monuments. I mean, that was a towering moon shot.

That ****head.
